If we are to be so lucky, we will be slipping away from the cold grasp of winter. Ready to warm ourselves on the curvaceous crest of the mountain, Parton Peaks will be our respite while we patiently wait for warm spring days to arrive. We will loosen ourselves up for the adventure with 1.4 miles on the Alum Cave Trail before pushing off into the brier patches. We will climb a jagged rocky spine to reach the top of the most visually appealing ridge crest in the Smokies, boasting two spectacular summits with vistas abound. When we have had our fill, we will return going down a different rock spine before diving off the side to swim through a rhodo-thicket until we once again hit the trail.
Total distance of 4 miles with the off-trail portion being around 1 mile. Rated moderate due to some rock scrambling. Contact the leader for details: Leader: Tim Hernandez 865-607-9362 guitar83@juno.com
