Beginning at the Abrams Creek Ranger Station, we will start our hike on Cooper Road Trail which parallels Kingfisher Creek for a time. At the intersection with Hatcher Mountain Trail, we will turn SW hiking mostly along the northern side of the mountain where we should have good views of Happy Valley Ridge and Look Rock. Then we will turn again onto Little Bottoms trail, an old manway with some interesting terrain. We intersect Cooper Road Trail again at the bottom to complete our lollipop. Total hiking distance is 11.5 miles. Rated moderate. Expect some wet trail if it's been rainy. Meet to carpool at 8:00 AM at Kroger at 244 S. Hall Rd. in Alcoa (on the side near KARM) or at 9:00 at the Abrams Creek Ranger Station. From Kroger, drive 30 miles RT at .07/mile = $2.10.
