Three trails combined into a moderate 11.3-mile loop with only a few hundred feet change in elevation. We will start at the Schoolhouse Gap trailhead on Laurel Creek Road hiking 1.1 miles passing the Turkey Pen Ridge junction at Dorsey Gap. Continue 1.2 miles to end at Schoolhouse Gap and the junction with Scott Mountain trail, passing Chestnut Top trail. Retrace 1.2 miles to Turkey Pen Ridge trail. Hike Turkey Pen Ridge 3.4 mi to Finley Cane trail. Plan on lunch at the layered rock outcropping at the last crossing of Pinkroot Branch. Hike Finley Cane 2.7 miles to Bote Mountain trail. Hike Bote Mountain 1.5 mi, passing West Prong Trail returning to the Schoolhouse Gap Trail Head. For carpooling, meet at Kroger on 244 S Hall Rd, Alcoa, TN at 8:00 am. Carpool 48 miles RT @.07=$3.36 (Round to $4 cash only). The carpool drive is about 40 minutes. Arrive at the Schoolhouse Gap trailhead on Laurel Creek Road in time to be ready to hike at 9:00 am.
